Serena Sahu lives along the coastline of India. Grown up amidst the smell of fish and the taste of sand, she wears long skirts and floral dresses. Drawing castles with sand grains is still her favourite pass time though she now resides in a luxurious mansion with servants to serve her all the time. No, it is not that she got married at 19 to a business tycoon, she has a flair for colours. Her talent and love was recognised by this Italian make-up artist when he visited the coasts on India. Though they didn’t understand each others language back then, her hand was assisted by his and she began to paint… Paint on the empty canvas… Serena’s life as an expert of hair transformation is covered by media all over but she still keeps it simple for she does not know any other way to live. She creates colours on wavy, straight, silky, broken and damaged, curly and all variety of lengths and does not think about the logic of getting it right. She lets the place behind her heart guide her hand and each piece of work is nothing less than a masterpiece, though ephemeral in nature!
Lalji and Serena are as apart as desert and water and yet both live a life oblivious to each others’ presence or should I say, influence! One decides the flow of life and the other flows with life. Wondering what happens when these two come together… Do you reckon that they can create magnificence or just clashes?
Complete control or full surrender- which way is the fruitful way? Well, it is serving both of them well enough. The surfer may be at an advantage though! If you view the waves on the beach, you know it triggers calmness, memories, emotions and strength. If you happen to watch a surfer, you will see how they wait, patiently, for the opportune moment, when they can ride on the wave, have fun, enjoy and still remain at the top of the mighty ocean. It is the path of active surrender where which wave to ride is the discretionary power of the creative surfer’s mind.
