KINDERGARTEN OF THERAPY- ESSENTIAL, YET MOSTLY IGNORED

“Are you a doctor?”- she heard it for the fifth time a week now! Each time, she just smiles and says, “not a medical one!”

Amyra is a metro girl, born and brought up in the urban set up in the capital of India. Education and degrees has been her natural way of living; intellect and knowledge, her best friends. Dribbling with different fields of life sciences, management, spirituality, psychology and now natural & energy medicine has become second nature to her. It has been more than two decades of melting pot of her studies and nearly 15 years of therapy experience.

I am sure you have experienced that moment in your life when you know what you are saying is the right thing but if someone intervenes and asks, “what is the logic?”, you find yourself searching for one! It is like you know it in you to be true but you still struggle for words and reasoning to prove it! Years of therapeutic intervention led Amyra to the same point!

It is not often but not rare either that when someone reaches out to her, back comes the reply, “you don’t need therapy at the moment!” Well, you must be wondering, then what! She says, “even before the nourishment for the mind, we need to nourish the body.” The present times of aggressive mental health awareness are also times of separation. Body and mind is one system and yet, most people forget this fact for the major part of their day.

If you are in 30s or above, I bet you recall an old GP that your parents took you to and themselves went to, that doctor knew the history of your entire family. He would first ask your parents about each one’s well-being in the family and then just half way through the conversation, would diagnose the root of the disease. At the same time, he kept it in its simple best. Amyra works with the same principle of keeping things simple and not complicating neither the mind nor the conversations.

Tapping into the mosaic of intuition and experience, she instinctively knows what the body needs. “We will need a set of blood tests before we proceed ahead. For all you know, popping in supplements is your therapy!” It is a rather weird juncture in the life of the “potential client.” It takes guts to knock on someone’s door asking for help for emotional and mental screw ups. Yet, people muster the courage, reach a psychologist and then someone like Amyra says, “to being with, it is deficiency of these vitamins and minerals specifically that is causing your mental waves of disturbance.”Body’s intelligence speaks in different ways but the modern day, left-brain dominant human finds it difficult to interpret the “obvious”. Chemical release that impacts the wellness quotient of the individual is significantly hampered by the lack of essentials in the body.

Before we get to “fixing” the mind, let us look at the requirements of the body. Many times, what looks like the start of a mental illness is actually a deficiency of essential minerals and vitamins
